About MIDNIGHT BLISS
December 6, 2024About MIDNIGHT BLISS
The rendering process is going great. I receive a new batch of images every week, and today, I want to share some of them with you. I was told that the rendering will be completed this year, so I’ll probably start the development at the beginning of 2025 (if that won’t interfere with building the first expansion to AMERICAN SUNSET, which has priority).
Furthermore, I like the MIU character a lot. She will be a worthy addition to our game cast, and together with BEN from ELEANOR, they will become key actors who play an essential role in the story.
I can’t wait to start working on this game again. I want to re-design the game flow a bit, modify the hint system, and upgrade everything to 2K resolution to impress our audience with crisper images.
All animations with the new content will be rendered with 40 frames (not 20 as before), and then we’ll multiply the number of frames with our AI tools to make all the movement super smooth and silky. Switching from 20 to 40 doesn’t only mean we’ll have twice as many frames. It’s a different philosophy of creating animations – with this expanded variant, we have much more diversified penetration, as compared to a single line of movement in a 20-frame model, making everything less repetitive and natural.
AMERICAN SUNSET
- We’re still waiting for STEAM approval.
- The first expansion will be released at the end of this month or the first part of January.
Surely it’s great that you are constantly improving your techniques and the quality of games is growing.
The only thing that saddens me is the fact that it’s happening with such delay (2-3 years).
I don’t want to offend anyone so take my words as a sorrow from a fan.
I’ve recently played Serbian casino (as preparation for Eleanor) and damn the native resolution seems to be around 720p or even lower. And same with UtBB and Serena’s remake – games from 2020!
Then there is the remake of your most popular game – LWT in 2021 on Unity engine which was already outdated at that time (especially for multiple-path games, you can’t skip dialogues). And now in 2023-2024 the remake of
that remake now on Ren’py which is finally not an outdated game.
Static renders are great in your modern games, you succeeded in catching up with the competitors (95%). But animations are tougher. Twitchy 20fps anims from last year…
Of course, there is no way one can change the past and revert that 2-year technology gap you obtained at the beginning of a new decade. That’s why I’m happy with your current route and the progress you’re making!
And I’m looking forward to playing Romance.exe! Previews look awesome!
Make LoP great again!
P.S. Once again I didn’t have intentions to insult anyone. Just sorrowing over past and expecting promising future.
P.P.S. Are you planning to expand old animations in Midnight Bliss to 40 frames?
About PPS – we plan to use another method of post processing for those animations from the original game to make them look better but we don’t plan to render them again.
Is the Daniel in Romance.exe supposed to a different character? Or likened to Daniel from LWT? They look similar, but not the same, and that could be down to different animations.
Yes, those guys are totally different characters.
Does Steam want modifications before LWT can be released or is there some other issue?
Can’t wait for more Hazel content and a slightly cleaned up hint system to clear up some of the difficulties with the quests outside of Nora’s
The hint system and the whole game flow will be remodeled so everything will be much more approachable and easy to follow.
UPDATE: Steam has contacted me today with a list of small things that I need to implement / modify. Nothing major.
I was only surprised, they informed me that they are unable to support the Early Access model of development for a game with mature themes. Please resubmit when your app is ready to launch without Early Access. That’s weird because I’ve already released this type of game as EA (ELEANOR IN MIAMI) and there are tons of other games of this type on STEAM with EA tag. I hope it’s only some kind of misunderstanding and I’ll be able to release the game soon.
UPDATE 2: Okay, it looks like STEAM won’t release our game as long as it has MATURE content and an EARLY ACCESS model – that’s weird because there are many other titles around with those two criteria but… we don’t want to discuss that. So we’ll resign from the EARLY ACCESS tag and release it as a complete product. We’re fine with that because the game is already complete, and we’ll just feed it with new, free content.
I can’t remember the last time I had this much anticipation for certain game then this one…How long do we have to wait again…until we can buy AMERICAN SUNSET on Steam?
If STEAM won’t surprise me with anything new and unexpected, probably 5-7 days.
The build is ready – I’m only waiting for approval.
I see. Thanks
But that would the same version we’ve published on lopgold.com – the new expansion, CALEB + OFFICE ROMANCE is still under development and we require some time to complete it.
