Thinking about LWT2
December 13, 2024Recently, I started to think about LWT2: REVELATIONS, which was published in 2019. The expanded version of LWT2 received plenty of great reviews, and I know you love that title. The game was released in UNITY with poorly upscaled images (in comparison to the technology we have today), and today, it doesn’t look attractive. I saw comments that people would like to see LWT2 on STEAM, but we’re unable to release this build there because of technical problems and quality issues.
Once, we planned a complete remake of LWT2, but I decided to cancel that idea – it would take us a year or two to render everything, and I believe we can spend this time preparing something new.
So, I was wondering if you would like to see the revised version of LWT2. That would mean that:
- same assets we got for the original game but upscaled to 2k resolution (samples below)
- same animations, also upscaled, with added extra frames and camera movement, adding some more life to the presentation
- adding more small, daily scenes, providing more variety to the week’s schedule and new events (all new content will be natively rendered in 2k with 40 frame animations)
- some minor gameplay fixes
- everything coded in RENPY, which would mean plenty of save slots, options to roll back the time, a better image gallery, stability and more
And that’s how animations could look. I believe that we can even boost the image quality in the final version.
Such changes would require a decent amount of work from us, but it’s just a fragment of the titanic work that would be necessary to render everything from scratch. Thanks to that effort, we’ll be able to deliver a refreshed version of the classic game with new content and modern ending features, making it worth playing again. Also, we’ll be able to release this game on STEAM.
So what do you think? Please vote and tell us your feelings in the comments.
Would you like to see REFRESHED version of LWT2?
AMERICAN SUNSET
I have 2 important news:
THE FIRST ONE
STEAM says we’re not allowed to release AMERICAN SUNSET as the EARLY ACCESS game because it has mature content. I believe they are about to implement the new policy in their store, and my game was one of the first ones that was influenced by this new rule. So I decided to release AMERICAN SUNSET as a complete game and still provide the expansion to it as it was planned during the EARLY ACCESS phase. Therefore, basically, nothing much has changed, and I hope that STEAM will approve the game for release soon, and I’ll be able to release it before XMAS.
THE SECOND ONE
My work with CALEB and OFFICE ROMANCE expansion is primarily complete. This week was very productive and we’re missing only a few fragments of the huge puzzle:
- we’re missing images for 1 of the 2 new scenes with KEIKO and for the dedicated ending with her
- we’re missing texts for those 2 scenes and endings – I was told to receive them soon
- final test verification of old and new scenes
- adding music and sound
- preparing cumshot images for new scenes
- I still need to test it a little bit longer
So, if the stars are right, I’ll be able to release this expansion in the first weeks of 2025.
XMAS CONTENT NEXT WEEK
XMAS is coming, and we’re preparing sexy new images with our models. Next week, expect a vast gallery. Today is only a tease with our ERICA from the incoming game ROMANCE.EXE.
I’m a little torn concerning LWT2: on the one hand I really liked it and an upgraded version would be welcomed but on the other hand that would take time away from other projects. If it won’t delay other projects by much, I would say yes. Are there already plans concerning LWT3 😉 ?
I definitely prefer a remake of LWT2, specially if there are plans for a LWT3.
I think a refreshed version of LwT2 using Ren’Py is probably the best approach. With how open-ended the first game is, I can see how new stories and characters can be easily introduced, while the second I can’t, so reusing the assets already available while adding a few scenes here and there is probably the best approach. One of the biggest missing scenes from the second game is Lisa and Antoinette messing around with the stable guys, so having a few scenes expanding that would be nice.
After the Remake and refresh of LwT2, I think a brand-new game in the series would be the best. You can keep using the assets from the first game like the house, Lisa could have finished her education and decided to stay, and the cast from LwT2 could also move there so we get a game with all the characters in the series in one place.
I would only vote for remaking LWT2 if there was going to be considerable new content (expansions) added in the same way you are remaking LWT1. I would not vote for you guys to spend the time on LWT2 if 90% of the effort is just upscaling and making it look more modern. I would rather that time be spent on more expansions of LWT1.
I agree with you, a remake of LWT2 should be bigger than the first one and should take in consideration the news included in LWT1 for the storyline (like deciding who else Justin had affairs with from the previous game).
I’d like to play LWT2 on Steam but for just and upgraded version I prefer if they spend than effort in the first game.
We don’t plan to add a crazy amount of new scenes like we did with REVELATIONS update. It will just a gentle refresh, not the remake like we did with AMERICAN SUNSET. All upscaling and building a game from scratch won’t consume our rendering powers – I’ll be doing this as a programmer. The only time our rendering team will spend with this project is rendering new scenes.
I sent you a document of all the lwt2 ideas I had, many of which are smaller to add more options to the game. There are larger ideas in there, but wouldn’t work with this type of update. I can re-send the document when you feel that you’re more dedicated to that game and American Sunset is finished up.
Living With Temptation 2 Revelations is definitely worth replaying it many times…I never had a chance to play this game fully. I only played Living With Temptation 2 Foreign Affairs as flash game…So having this LWT2 on STEAM would be great. I believe, me and my friends as well as other players on STEAM would like to buy and play this game… and I totally agree if you are gonna remake this game and publish on STEAM.
I would rather more efforts to be put in expanding American Sunset, than to divert to LWT2.
I would be happy to have a ren’py version of LwT2. It doesn’t even need to be improved.
There are so many great games hidden behind the terrible unity engine such as LwT2, Serena, Eleanor 3, My Name is David, Pledge, StT, Serbian Casino, Call Girl Denise, Living with a Nympho and Under the Black Banner.
So, use LwT2 as a test to see how long it takes to make the transition from Unity and Ren’Py. If it doesn’t take long, hopefully you’ll do the same to all the other titles.
A refreshed version of LwT2 is ok if a remake is definitely off the charts. There are some scenes or some pictures not accessible on the current build of LwT2 and it just has never made sense to me these older games are not getting bug fixes or facelifts. Even some Steam builds of older games are riddled with bugs which is not a good look on something that costs extra outside of a subscription.
That being said. Yes, I’d like some games being refreshed. Some of the older games are fantastic. But LwT2 I’d like remade more. Lisa is a much stronger character in LwT2 and but her but also your relationship with Tracy don’t suffer the same restraints LwT1 has. For me some LwT2 stuff could even be added into LwT1 of only to be able to progress the relationships. Or have LwT2 be non canon. Lisa is much more sexually defined and free and that’s the major boom LwT2 has over LwT1.
Lily in Hawaii would be fun to revisit with new images and more content. Trip to Paradise was another short game that could be fun to remake too.
I mean, with the changes to the LWT: American Sunset gameplay, would it really be such a stretch to add the LWT 2 content into that game? You could even include some “Skip to the trip” button at the start, but basically, at one point, when the flags for Tracy and Lisa are what they need to be, you would get a call from your cousin (or whoever it is, I forgot) and then you could trigger “Travel abroad” event. Boom, you are in LWT2. Obviously at this point, the game would end like LWT2, no “going back” and playing the regular LWT, but even then, it seems doable to me.
Or are you worried that the difference in the assets quality would be too jarring?
Doesn’t it seem stupid to you to publish the same game with a different subtitle of the game on steam, with practically the same content that has a few changes as the original game and ask for money for it? Who would pay on Steam for the same game just because it’s in a different engine and there are a few changes? I’d be surprised if you got approved.
Have you been playing both games? AMERICAN SUNSET is a different title, an evolution of the concept of the original game. It has not only modified gameplay but also replaced content for the most of daily actions, a lot of new scenes and characters. All original images have been reworked with our new post-processing methods, improved animations, new music and sounds. So there is a lot of changes and you can’t say that we’ve only changed the subtitle because that’s not true.
To prove that our approach was right, take a look at the feedback we got for this game. Basing on comments, players adore that idea and value the changes and new content we’ve implemented. So most of the players is satisfied with the new version of the game. We’ve very ambitious plans in terms of expansions and it looks like that players want to play it.
In terms of the STEAM release, I’ve promised a bundle, in which you’ll be able to purchase LWT1, LUSCIOUS SECRET EXPANSION and AMERICAN SUNSET in a very good price. That means, that when you have the base game and expansion, you’ll get the new version of the game with a nice discount. So for my taste, everyone wins here.
Yes, he played, but the fact that something is reworked or improved does not mean that you have the right to release it as a completely new game, because the game has the same concept. Max you can present it as a remaster and not give the same concept a different name and release it as a new game. Better visuals and animations and expanded cutscenes don’t make a game a new game for the sake of being presented as a new game. . And be prepared that if steam approves you, you will encounter such criticism on a larger scale. A new game means that there is a new story, which is not, new gameplay, which is not, and above all, a new scenario that is only modified. Nothing more.
I didn’t notice that it looked like this with other games that also had big updates that changed the gameplay rapidly, that they would release it as a new game. A perfect example is The Sims 4. The base game itself has changed a lot over the years thanks to updates, yet the developers didn’t rename it and release it as a new game
Here, take a look how we’re describing it on STEAM:
“We’re presenting something unique – an alternative version of Living with Temptation called American Sunset. This new project utilizes already-created assets (text and images) mixed with a crazy amount of new content produced exclusively for this game version – all built with the new game engine, with heavenly improved mechanics.”
So the message is clear from the first moments you see our STEAM page, we’re not trying to fool anyone as you suggest. Together with a discount for people who already have the original game and expansion, it’s a very solid offer. If you don’t like that concept, just don’t buy it, simple.
gameplay modification, graphic changes, HUD modification and scenario modification is not a new game. This is just an update.
I’d really like to see LWT 2 again but with new addition to the story. I want to see a full affair with Anoinette just to spite Richard and then Justin lose everything for his pettiness and more options with Lisa if we chose not to cheat in the first game.
LWT2 remake would be cool but I think it would need more content, especially with Antoinette!
How about bringing LWT2 characters to LWT1 remake?
You know that Cuckold scene in LWT Luscious Secrets…I mean when the first cuckold scene is about to happen at the cabin and for that scene the certain kinda of music is played in the background…
I replayed it AMERICAN SUNSET couple of times…and that music for the first Cuckold scene is not there…Now it’s playing some kinda music from the game menu or something for that first Cuckold scene.
That music from LWT Luscious Secrets that was playing for the cuckold scene It was a very good music that played at the right time… But now in American Sunset is gone… Is it possible to bring that music back and place it back where it belongs when the first Cuckold scene is about to happen…
It was a very good music for that scene and maybe it could even be good music for future cheating scenes for Tracy or something…I’m just pointing out.
